SAINT-JACQUES DE COMPOSTELLE
The Via Podiensis takes its name from its starting point: Puy-en-Velay in the Haute-Loire. It crosses Tarn-and-Garonne for 53 km before heading for the Roncevaux pass and then, further still, to Saint-Jacques in Spanish Galicia, where a pilgrimage born ten centuries ago terminates.

The route, in Tarn-and-Garonne as elsewhere, can consist of a personalised itinerary but in Tarn-and-Garonne it promises to be particularly breathtaking. Firstly because it reveals a variety of different landscapes ranging from limestone slopes on the Lot border to the opulent curving hills of the Gers boundaries. Secondly due to the traces left by long-ago pilgrims in their extravagant witness of faith…cathedrals, abbeys, hospices, fords and romanesque bridges…
In other words, it’s a journey in time and topography, with Tarn-et-Garonne revealing its lasting tradition of hospitality.
